South Families Friday, October 18th, will be our Food for America Day at the High School Ag building. Students will leave South School at approx. 1:00 and returning by approx. 3:00. If you wish for your child not to travel on this intra-school visit, please call the South front office by Thurs. 10/17 at 4:30.

Today is the South PTO-sponsored Carnival, an excellent opportunity to have some fun and food! The carnival is at South Elementary and will be open until 2:00 p.m. today.

South Elementary students in Mrs. Henderson's preschool class spent the week learning about what to do in the case of a fire. They learned how to dial 911, crawl low under smoke, stop, drop, and roll, and get out and stay out. They ended their week with a visit from our local fire fighters. 🔥🚒 #WildcatExcellence

South Elementary welcomed some of the Warsaw Volunteer Firefighters this week. Preschool - 1st grade got to visit the truck and review fire safety guidelines. 🔥🚒 #WildcatExcellence

South Elementary 1st graders learned all about pumpkins this week! 🍂🎃 Throughout the week, students were able to use pumpkins to make observations, list adjectives, learn about measurement, and discover the life cycle of a pumpkin. The students enjoyed several books about pumpkins, both fiction and nonfiction. 📚 The week ended with a "Carve-y Party" where students got to carve their pumpkins with the help of some amazing parent volunteers. It was so much fun! 🎃🤩

Mrs. Alcantara's 3rd grade class at South Elementary would like to extend a huge thank you to the Warsaw Educational Foundation for helping purchase books for their classroom. 📚 #WildcatExcellence

🎊South Elementary has the first millionaire reader.🎊 Congratulations to 5th grader, Carter Johnson, on surpassing 1,000,000 words through the reading counts program. The program encourages students to read and assesses them on their reading comprehension with a short quiz over each book. We are so proud of Carter's accomplishment and thrilled to see our students working hard towards our schools reading goals! 📚👏🏼 #WildcatExcellence

We'd like to extend a huge congratulations to our Director of Maintenance, Tim Snider, on his completion of The Missouri School Plant Managers Association (MSPMA) Certification Program. We are proud of the hard work he's put in to complete this certification and look forward to seeing how he uses this knowledge to benefit the school district. #WildcatExcellence

Thanks to the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw, all Pre-K through 1st grade students in the district receive a monthly book to take home throughout the school year. They even send a reader to visit and read the story to students first. #WildcatExcellence #Community

South Elementary’s 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders have been working on Fingerprint Poems in Mrs Applegate’s Art classes the past few weeks. The projects integrated creative writing skills (story telling, sentences and onomatopoeias) and art (creative way of forming the writing, small icons, and coloring the fingerprint) in one project. 🎨✍️#WildcatExcellence

4th and 5th grade students from South Elementary spent the day in Cole Camp participating in antique tractor and machinery exhibits. Students learned how sorghum is pressed, how wheat is trashed, and the evolution of the chainsaw from the old hand pulled saw to modern day chainsaws. Students watched demonstrations for some of the first motorized wood mills, apple presses for making cider, and how pioneers relied on windmill energy to power water pumps. Throughout the day they experienced the role that agriculture played in rural life in the past and how it still plays a part in our lives today. #WildcatExcellence
