March 2025 Recap: Updates from Warsaw R-IX School District Board Meeting

The Warsaw R-IX Board of Education met on March 19th to discuss a range of important updates and decisions affecting the school district. Below are the key highlights from the meeting.

The meeting began with student, staff, and community recognitions. The recipients included Grace Long– February Student Spotlight; Austyn Wright– March Student Spotlight; Cecilia Ward– February Classified Staff Member of the Month; Samantha Dove– February Certified Staff Member of the Month; Jeri Smith– March Classified Staff Member of the Month; Teresa Flores– March Certified Staff Member of the Month; Sabin Parsi (Studio Victoria) and Hanah Cole (Faded by Hanah)– February Wildcat Pride Award recipients; and the American Legion– March Wildcat Pride Award recipient.

The seven volunteer members of the Board of Education were recognized for their dedication & service to the Warsaw R-IX School District. The meeting featured two program spotlights: one by 3rd - 5th grade teachers, who provided an overview of their classroom learning strategies & activities, and another by high school agriculture students, who shared a contest presentation. 

New business started with a review of the district’s February Revenue and Expenses.

In other new business, the board approved the installation of additional security cameras across district facilities, as well as the certified and classified salary schedules for the 2025–2026 school year. Additionally, the board approved two bids from David Breshears for the purchase of surplus buses.

The board also approved two PROP KIDS project bids: the Elementary Restrooms and South School Wall project was awarded to Westport Construction for $1,700,000, and the 5th Grade Wing/High School Addition/High School & John Boise Middle School Addition project was awarded to RCI for $10,273,935.

During the closed session, four resignations, six new hires, and five tenure contracts were approved. The board also approved all probationary and tenure teacher’s contracts, the director of special education’s contract, all certified salaries that are not on the salary schedule and extended day contracts for certified employees.     

The next Warsaw R-IX Board Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 19th at 6:00 p.m. in the HS/JBMS Library. The district welcomes the community to the monthly board meetings, which are open to the public, with the exception of closed sessions.
