july-board-meeting-2025

The Warsaw R-IX Board of Education met July 23rd to discuss important updates and make decisions in preparation for the 2025–26 school year.

Budget & Financial Updates

In new business, Superintendent Scott Gemes presented a detailed budget overview, including the June financial report, year-end performance, and a comparison to the previous fiscal year. The district ended the 2024–25 fiscal year in a stronger position than anticipated, thanks to higher-than-expected local and state revenues. The year closed with a healthy reserve of 48.64%.

The Board also reviewed the 2024–25 ASBR budget against projected year-end figures. Superintendent Gemes provided insight into the Fund 4 budget outlook for the next four years, including plans for utilizing PROP KIDS funding and other revenue sources. A long-range financial plan was shared, reflecting a conservative revenue outlook and an aggressive estimate on expenses. Despite this cautious approach, updated state funding figures—including the SAT being signed at $7,145—point to a positive financial trend.

Financial information can be found on the district website under Board of Education Financials.

Board Approvals

The Board approved the Superintendent’s goals for the 2025–26 school year, which align with the district’s commitment to fiscal responsibility, student success, and staff development.

Additional approvals included:

  • Food service bids and staff meal prices for the 2025–26 school year. Springfield Grocer will serve as the main food distributor; Hiland Dairy will provide milk; and Ben E. Keith will supply bread.

  • Bus routes for the upcoming school year, ensuring safe and efficient transportation for students.

Personnel Updates

During the closed session, the Board accepted two resignations and approved the hiring of two paraprofessionals.
